The History Center in Tompkins County is a small local history museum located on the Ithaca Commons near the Bernie Milton Pavilion, and their archives contain several discrete collections (manuscripts, scrapbooks, photographs, ledgers, maps, etc.). They need to move their ledgers (approximately 400 of them) to an offsite storage location a few blocks away. The ledgers are old, some are fragile, and many are heavy.
They will be asking 5-8 volunteers to help box and carry them to vehicles where they will be transported to the second location. Once there, they need help unboxing and shelving them. The whole process should take about 4-5 hours with enough people working. They hope to do this on Saturday 10/14/23, beginning at 10:00 AM and will gladly provide lunch for their hard working helpers. A second option is to do this on 10/21/23 at the same time, but this is less than optimal for them.
