opportunities for Students     /    Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca & Tompkins County
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca & Tompkins County
You have a big opportunity in front of you—to not only impact a child’s life today, but to transform their potential for tomorrow.
This Opportunity At a Glance
Time Committment

A few hours, a couple times a month

Eligibility

Open to anyone over 18.
Big Brothers especially needed.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ithaca & Tompkins County is actively looking for volunteers to be matched with the large number of children on our waitlist. The current waitlist has 2x more boys than girls, so they especially need male Bigs! Big Brothers Big Sisters helps children realize their potential and build their futures. The program nurtures children and strengthens communities. And they couldn’t do any of it without volunteers.

The organization serves youth from age six through young adulthood in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Bigs and Littles hang out about once a week for a couple hours doing normal, everyday activities, like playing games, doing arts and crafts, doing homework, going out to eat or just hanging out and chatting!

Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support Specialist who is always there to provide resources and support specific to the match. With a Big in their life, Littles in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem, discover new opportunities and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.

Ready to apply? Still not sure? Either way, check out the website: www.bbbsithaca.org and the frequently asked questions.

Reach out to Molly Bargar, Clients Relations Specialist, with additional inquiries about volunteering at Mbargar@cityofithaca.org or 607-273-8364 ext. 2156
