The History Center is a generation-to-generation education and research center whose aim is to preserve the History in Tompkins County and help people use the tools of history to understand the past, gain perspective on the present, and play an informed role in shaping the future. The organization has been stewarding community history for over 80 years.  They are comprised of archives and collections, a research library, the exhibit hall, and the Eight Square Schoolhouse.
