The Ultimate Re-entry Opportunity Initiative (URO) and The Network need your help. Since 2014, URO has been focused on eliminating the systemic barriers to reentry for people who are systems-impacted, including those previously or currently incarcerated in Tompkins County.

They do this with the support of the Network, a group of volunteers from various backgrounds, dedicated to URO’s motto of “Humans humanizing humans.” They need your help because supporting people re-entering society (from jail, prison, or other system-impacted situations) is a communal effort.

As for opportunities for volunteers to help, there are a few programs that support re-entry:

1) The Transportation Network – Through the partnership with OAR, volunteers provide transportation to medical, and court appointments, job interviews, or other important appointments for those who need it.

2) Motivational Interviewing Mentorship Program – Community members provide individuals incarcerated at the TC jail with inspirational, focused mentorship to aid them in planning their transition back into the community. The next orientation for this program is March 8th from 4-5:30pm.
