The Community-Engaged Practice and Innovation Awards recognize faculty and staff who have led students in innovative curricular, co-curricular or extra-curricular community-engaged learning. The mission of the Einhorn Center is to be the hub for community engagement at Cornell, supporting a university culture where students, faculty, staff and partners work together to create a better world. Recognizing faculty and staff with emerging community-engagement practices furthers this mission.

Awardees receive $1,000, transferrable to their university discretionary account, to support community-engaged learning activities.

Every year, the Community-Engaged Practice and Innovation Awards are given to faculty of any rank from each of Cornell University’s 13 colleges and schools and staff from Student and Campus Life.
Every year, the Community-Engaged Practice and Innovation Awards are given to faculty of any rank from each of Cornell University’s 13 colleges and schools and staff from Student and Campus Life.
Anyone can nominate. Multiple nominations per unit/department/college/school and self-nominations are welcomed. Nominations must be submitted via the online form. The nomination materials include:
- A nominator or self-nominator statement (500-word max) describing
- how the nominee’s work fulfills the four elements of high-quality community-engaged learning;
- the impact of the nominee’s community-engaged learning program(s);
- how the nominee’s community-engaged learning contributions are serving as a model for others in the unit/department/college/school or for audiences external to Cornell.
- Nominee’s current curriculum vitae with information relevant to the award (optional)
- Relevant websites or articles (optional)
A committee organized by the Einhorn Center will determine the award recipients. Award recipients will be named on the Einhorn Center website and announced via the Cornell Chronicle and social media.
