Community-engaged learning and research will be a cornerstone of the Department of Global Development, a new initiative of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Lori Leonard is working with a team of faculty to think about how to choreograph a series of engaged experiences for students in the new major. Together with the cohort of Engaged Faculty Fellows, Leonard is considering: What are the variety of ways that faculty could incorporate engaged learning principles or practices into their courses? How should the new department structure a series of engaged learning activities so that they build on each other? And what are best practices in terms of developing long-term, on-going learning partnerships with off-campus partners?
