An issue of public concern I’m passionate about is …
unequal opportunity for marginalized communities in the world, especially immigrant communities.
Engagement or community service experience
I am currently the director of finance for Budding Branches, an organization that connects high school students to one-on-one calls and organizes college panels with current college students. The goal is to help high schoolers learn more about extracurriculars, academics and social life within universities.
Aside from Budding Branches, I have experience canvassing around different neighborhoods in NYC and promoting civic participation, specifically in Asian American communities. Through canvassing, I was able to see inequities that exist in both the housing system and immigrant policies. It is important to me to learn more about how the policies that exist in our society affect individual people. Community service is a great way to do this as it gives me the opportunity to engage with people one-on-one while simultaneously allowing me to give back to my communities.
