Community-Engaged Practice & Innovation Awards, 2025

She is director of the Faculty Scholars in Health Equity, a faculty development training program at Weill Cornell Medicine and developed the Institute for Health and Advocacy Leaders (I-HEAL). As director of the Weill Cornell Patient Care and Physicianship course for first-year Weill Cornell Medical students, she developed the social justice, policy, advocacy and community engagement (SPACE) curriculum, which teaches about health equity, social drivers of health and the importance of community engagement. She is also lead of the Community Engagement committee in the WCM EndoMet Racial Justice Team, and through this exemplary interdisciplinary team has been involved in community health fairs, educational workshops to various community groups and partnerships with senior living centers and community gardens. She is also the Weill Cornell community health champion through the New York Presbyterian Hospital Division of Community and Population Health, and launched a food insecurity screening program within the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism that connects individuals who experience food insecurity with resources. As a Health Equity Fellow through the United Hospital Fund, she is collaborating with Word of Life Inc community-based organization to develop a health and nutrition curriculum for students involved in a school-based community garden.
