This year I will be creating a writing workshop project with Cornell Prison Education Program (CPEP) students at all the facilities where we teach — Auburn, Cayuga and Five Points Correctional Facilities — and printing an anthology of student creative writing. I have gotten a grant from the Radical Librarianship Institute, part of California Rare Book School at UCLA, to create this anthology. I plan to use the grant money to provide students with books on creative writing craft and to bring six published authors to give workshops in prison. I am also partnering with PEN America to pilot their new prison writing workshop curriculum in a series of informal writing workshops facilitated by CPEP volunteers and myself, and collectively shaped by the students.
