COVID-19 isolation isn’t stopping students from completing their ongoing collaboration with the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park; they’re just doing it remotely. With support from this grant, the team is producing a 250-page report on the historic Enfield Falls Hotel (1853-1906), one of the first resorts in the Finger Lakes.
In 2018 a historic photograph was found that showed the hotel had two buildings, not just the one building the team had previously excavated. Students worked with community partners on field and laboratory research on the second building buried in the park. Members of the Friends of Robert H. Treman State Park and park staff commented on the students’ preliminary research and provided suggestions for changes and additional research that was necessary to complete the final report.
