Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is interested in implementing REDD+, a UN climate change mitigation solution that incentivizes developing countries to keep their forests standing. Students in PADM 5900: Consulting for Nonprofit and Government Organizations have completed a report about the opportunities, hurdles, case studies and baseline for implementing the program in Peru. This grant is supporting the next stage in the project, including traveling to the country to collaborate with stakeholders, local officials, community partners, experts and community leaders. The team’s goal is to establish a policy structure to develop a framework for vetting and managing REDD+ projects.
