Aiding educators and librarians in developing synergies for important youth skills development
Public understanding of democratic systems in society has diminished as the prevalence of fake news and alternative narratives has increased. The Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University acts as a steward of the field of polling, encouraging transparency and intellectual exchange in social science. Records of truth such as the digital archive at the Roper Center need to amplify their voice despite restricted resources.
Using this grant, Cornell undergraduate student(s) and staff are working with civic organizations, educators and librarians to promote free assets and instill digital literacy, a research mindset and a deeper understanding of democratic systems in today’s youth, while encouraging their active participation in the democratic process.
Taken together, these efforts support the larger initiative, years in the making, known as the America’s Voice Project at the Roper Center.
