This project is a collaboration between La Casita Cultural Center in Syracuse, Cornell, and the Tompkins County Latino/a community to create a shared oral history and community art project that highlight the Latino/a experience in upstate New York. La Casita Cultural Center hosts the videotaping of oral histories from Tompkins County participants. Cornell and Syracuse University partner up for a conference on popular art, oral history and Latino/a cultural contributions in the region. The Latino Civic Association hosts a Latino/a Heritage Month Art Show that included selected materials from La Casita’s archive and new materials from local participants. Students learn how to collect oral histories and curate popular art with the option of presenting their own items and stories for the art show and/or scholarly conference
