Designing a traveling exhibit for future biomedical engineers
The Cornell University Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering has started an NIH-funded project to design, construct and implement a traveling museum exhibit in collaboration with the Ithaca Sciencenter. This five-year project leverages the technical expertise of Cornell faculty and graduate students to create an interactive experience for increasing interest in STEM among rural US students, aged 6-12 years old. Sciencenter staff provide expertise in development, construction and assessment of the exhibit.
With funding from an Engaged Opportunity Grant, the team is incorporating Cornell BME undergraduates in the initial ideation and assessment steps for year one of the larger project. Students gain valuable experience in science communications, interface with Sciencenter partners to learn about their needs for the exhibit and participate in evaluation of end user experiences.
