In this project, students participate in a five-day fall break research and public engagement opportunity in Barbados, a small but rapidly developing West Indian country. Barbados is currently implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Participating students will engage in a comprehensive, condensed program of meetings, site visits, interviews and classroom learning opportunities with partners such as the Barbados Council for the Disabled, University of the West Indies and the Barbados Union of Teachers. Participants will learn research advanced practices for comparative, cross-cultural policy analysis and will present findings at the end-of-semester group country presentations.
