Selling the Past in Modern-Day Greece
In response to Greece’s decade-long budgetary crisis, a professor from the University of the Aegean is organizing a conference to look at ways Greeks can promote their cultural past, attracting tourists and contributing to the sustainable development of the country. Classics professor Michael Fontaine will attend to discuss his work with the Paideia Institute in Rome, which facilitates high-value study-abroad tours in Italy and Greece for college and high school students. The aim of the conference is to help create job opportunities in Greece – especially for middle class and young people.
